Irish Music Workshops and Concert – February 10, 2018

Katie Grennan, along with Winifred Horan and John Williams will be perfoming next month on Saturday, February 10th at Central Catholic High School. Katie Grennan will be hosting a beginner/intermediate fiddle session, designed for violin or fiddle players that have about 2 years experience. Experienced violinists or fiddle players can register for Winifred Horan’s session – the featured musician of the weekend. She is an incredible fiddle player and best known for her over 20 years with Solas Beginner tin whistle lessons offered (no prior experience necessary!) An intermediate tune learning workshop for any instrument. Click here for more details and to register:… The workshops will be followed by a concert that is an annual tradition that features nationally recognized Irish musicians and is a fundraiser for the Central Catholic Rowing team in honor of the late Brendan Foley. Local Teens Take to the Stage with Katie Grennan and Gaelic Storm at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival

Local Teens from Burke-Conroy School of Irish Dance took to the stage with Gaelic Storm on Saturday September 9, 2017. Katie Grennan’s fiddle students, Brianna Cobbey, Margaret Kepler, and Michael Kepler played Tell Me Ma as a fantastic crowd cheered them on.   To close the show, Burke-Conroy School of Irish dancers Bridget Clark, Meghan Osekowski, Shiela Clark, Olivia Deasy, and BeBe Duffus danced a fantastic Treble Reel.   Congratulations on a FANTASTIC performance!     Click on the link below to see the Performance of Tell Me Ma. A great end to summer!

Good Luck Elizabeth!

The Pittsburgh CCE branch would like to send good luck wishes to Eliabeth Nist as she travels to Ireland for the 2017 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.   Elizabeth will travel to Ennis, Ireland from August 13 – 21 to compete in the U12 Slow Air Competition.  May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is one of the largest festivals of traditional music in the world.  For one week every August, the very best of traditional talent from all over Ireland and the world comes together to meet, to compete but most importantly to celebrate all that is best in Irish music, song and dance.  Ennis hosted the Fleadh in 2016 and experienced a joyful invasion of musicians and listeners alike, young and old, families and visitors, all drawn by the magic that the Fleadh promises and always delivers.  Please find below the information for the 2017 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
