Local Teens from Burke-Conroy School of Irish Dance took to the stage with Gaelic Storm on Saturday September 9, 2017. Katie Grennan’s fiddle students, Brianna Cobbey, Margaret Kepler, and Michael Kepler played Tell Me Ma as a fantastic crowd cheered them on. To close the show, Burke-Conroy School of Irish dancers Bridget Clark, Meghan Osekowski, Shiela Clark, Olivia Deasy, and BeBe Duffus danced a fantastic Treble Reel. Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is one of the largest festivals of traditional music in the world. For one week every August, the very best of traditional talent from all over Ireland and the world comes together to meet, to compete but most importantly to celebrate all that is best in Irish music, song and dance. Ennis hosted the Fleadh in 2016 and experienced a joyful invasion of musicians and listeners alike, young and old, families and visitors, all drawn by the magic that the Fleadh promises and always delivers. This fall, Pitt University will introduce a new Irish Dance club! The club is named “Rince na gCathRach Cruach”, which translates to “Dance of the Steel City.” Pittsburgh has a wonderful Irish community and students Emma Cooley and Sarah Wolfe are really excited to spread this culture to Pitt’s campus! For their very first fundraiser, members of the club are going to be selling t-shirts. Each shirt is $20 and comes in all sizes YXS-Adult 4XL. Please join the Pittsburgh CCE on August 11, 2017 for an end of the summer celebration at the Irish Center of Pittsburgh. We will begin the day with swimming at 4PM, followed by a cookout.
